Gresham-Barlow Education Foundation Awards Grant Funding to Two Clear Creek Teachers

(para español haga clic aqui)

Gresham-Barlow Education awarded two teachers with grant funding for innovative projects at Clear Creek.
The math teachers will be utilizing manipulatives in their classes next school year thanks to a grant submitted by Shara Nagel.  The goal of the grant is to increase student collaboration and engagement by providing hands-on manipulatives that alight with our Ready Math curriculum.
STEAM teacher Tom Erickson will have another tool in his tool belt with the addition of Automata books.  He will introduce his students to Automata which are machines that use mechanical movement to do something.  This project will also allow students to include art and creativity into their designs.
Grant funding for Clear Creek and other schools was provided by the Gresham-Barlow Education Foundation.  The Foundation provides funding for increased learning opportunities for every student in the district.  This year, $20,000 was awarded to schools to enrich and enhance the education of Gresham-Barlow students.

Energy Drinks
Dear parents/guardians,

We have had an increase in students bringing Dutch Bros., Starbucks, and other purchased drinks to school.  These containers are not spill-proof and students are leaving the mess on the carpets, in backpacks, and lockers.  When these drinks get spilled or go bad, it makes quite a smell and mess.

More recently, some students have been bringing blended drinks, mixing in energy-type drinks (e.g. Rebel, Red Bull, etc).  These mixes are high in sugars, caffeine, and calories, sometimes nearing 1/2 a recommended daily intake based on medical research.

We have asked students to not bring these drinks to school.  If you choose to provide such a drink for your child and are dropping them off at school, please ensure it is left with you in the vehicle.  This will avoid any further spills or issues in the carpeted areas.

Thank you for helping us keep a clean school environment and encouraging healthy choices and habits for our students.

Thank you,
David Atherton, Principal

Estimados padres / tutores,

Gracias,
David Atherton, Director
